Sunday People - HEAT GOES COLD ON RANGERS
-Manchester United reserve goalkeeper Tom Heaton pulled out of a proposed £300,000 move to QPR yesterday after failing to agree personal terms at Loftus Road.
- Heaton, 23, is well down the list at Old Trafford and has been told he can leave. The home-grown keeper (right) made the England under-21 squad and was sent out on loan to Cardiff City where his form was mixed. Rangers would also like to take full-back Richard Eckersley, 20, on loan for the season.
- Eckersley has to sign a new deal at United first before he can go. The defender wants regular football and Fergie will let him go if he commits to a long-term deal at United." Sunday Peopleal

Alessandro Pellicori, 28 years old forward, is the new player for Queens Park Rangers, he comes from Avellino, Italian Serie B team relegated to Lega Pro last year and officially went bankrupt a few days ago.
Pellicori, 10 years as soccer player, leaves Irpinia and Italia to challenge London, after he passed his career between Serie C1, Serie B and a year in Serie A (with Lecce, in 2001).

- Miami, USA - Jamaica's national senior team defender Damion Stewart was booted from the CONCACAF Gold Cup squad here last evening by the coaching staff for what they said was the player's "constant breaching and challenging of team rules, which was seen as disruptive and inconsistent with general objectives of the team".
- However, the player in his defence yesterday just prior to his departure from the team hotel to the airport, told the media that in addition to doing nothing wrong to be sent home, he was not given a hearing to defend himself from the charges.
- According to a statement from the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF), the "coaching staff of the Jamaica national team has taken a decision to withdraw defender Damion Stewart from the squad currently participating in the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup in the United States".
- The JFF release quoted head coach Theodore Whitmore as saying: "Damion never gave us the impression that he was focused and wanted to be a part of the team and how it operates. He questioned and challenged everything even team tactics. Even his teammates were not pleased with his behaviour and general attitude.
- "I have tried to keep him in line, but he has not shown a willingness to change. We cannot have a situation where the team is damaged because of the selfishness and indiscipline of one man," Whitmore said.
- During the one-week pre-Gold Cup camp in the Cayman Islands, Stewart was among a group of players fined for breaches. He and Jermaine Johnson were also fined heavily for missing the flight from Jamaica to Miami at the start of the Gold Cup tournament.
- But the player challenged the coaching staff's charges against him and how the situation was handled.
- "I am just trying to clear myself to let the public know that I didn't feel like I did anything wrong to be going home," Stewart, 28, said, before adding that he was hurt.
- "Well, definitely, it is the ultimate insult, and I am not going to tell you that I'm not feeling bad. I'm feeling very bad right now because every time I put on the shirt, whether I'm playing idle football or even friendly football, I always give my all, especially when I'm playing for Jamaica, so I don't see how on earth they could draw that conclusion that I don't want to be here. That surprised me," he said.
- The Queens Park Rangers fans player of the year and players' player of the year explained that at about 11:20 yesterday morning he went to the room of the head of delegation Bruce Gaynor to collect his per diem, when he was made aware of his fate.
- "Well I was told that I didn't look like I was interested or I didn't look like I wanted to be here. That's the reason I was given to say that I was going home... at about 11:21 today, which is when aI went there to collect some per diem from the head of delegation.
- "I saw like the vice-president, Mr Anderson (Raymond), the coach and head of delegation, and they said that the coach has come to a decision to send me home. At that point they told me that I was going to be on the 1:30 flight, so I told them that that was a little bit too quick for me, so I would need a later flight."
- The player said he requested a private meeting with the coach in order to get a clearer idea of what his crime was supposed to be. He said the coach told him that he didn't look like he wanted to be here along with "other stuff", without elaborating.
- Stewart, popularly called 'Stew Peas' added that they were joined by the assistant coach Bradley Stewart and during that argument, the issues of him being fined in the Cayman Island, as well as being heavily fined for missing the flight to Miami came to the fore. He also claimed that he was told that he questioned everything that the coach asked him to do, and that he should just follow instructions.
- But he said he informed them that he was an opinionated person. "It didn't matter what I said. They had already made a decision that I would be going home, because even in the meeting with the coaches they are saying whatever the coach says you do, you don't follow instruction, but I told them I'm a very opinionated person, and if I have an opinion I am going to share it. We are not robots, nor programmes, so that's just me, that's who I am."
- The player argued that after being given the captain's armband in the Cayman Islands and then starting in the first two games of the Gold Cup, he was surprised to find himself banished to the grandstand for the game against El Salvador, before an ankle injury to Claude Davis gave him a reprieve." - wo goals either side of half time were more than enough for Rangers, as they got their pre-season campaign off to a winning start with a fantastic display against Aldershot.
- Strikes from Akos Buzsaky, Heidar Helguson, Patrick Agyemang and Dexter Blackstock ensured Jim Magilton's men of victory, and handed the former Ipswich man his first win as Rangers boss in front of a strong R's away following.
- Magilton was given the luxury of naming a near fully-fit side, with the exceptions of Captain Martin Rowlands and Lee Cook (both knee). Damion Stewart missed out because of his ongoing international duties with Jamaica.
- Such has been the magnitude of the R's injury problems in the past year that key players such as Buzsaky missed much of last season - but he started at The Recreation Ground, in a strong looking Rangers line up.
- The game though did come a tad too quickly for new signing Alejandro Faurlin, an absentee due to the fact his international clearance was not given in time to face the Shots.
- As the rain lashed down on a lush playing surface, it was visitors who had the first shot in anger, as they nearly took an early lead.
- After a neat interchange between trialist David Connolly and Helguson, the latter collected the ball some 25-yards out before thundering a shot in on goal - only for the Icelandic forward to see his shot cannon off Shots custodian Mikael Jaimez-Ruiz's left-hand upright and out for a corner.
- From the resulting corner, the ball found its way to Wayne Routledge, who played a clever pass to David Connolly on the edge of the area. Opening his body, the former Sunderland man sent in an exquisite curling shot, only to see his effort drift marginally over the bar.
- The game was beginning to be played at a faster pace as the half progressed - with the Shots forcing Radek Cerny into a good save low down to his left after a Lewis Chambers free kick seemed to be heading for the bottom corner.
- Though it was Rangers who were beginning to get the better of their opponents, and in the 25th minute they found themselves a goal to the good courtesy of Buzsaky.
- Missed so much previously through injury because of his guile and indeed, because of his creativity - the Magical Magyar was found by Matteo Alberti out wide on the left.
- Buzsaky then used his chest to bring the ball down, before cutting in past two men and unleashing an unstoppable shot into the top right-hand corner of the net.
- And such was the dominance of the R's, they found themselves two up just a couple of minutes later. Buzsaky again found space down the left and sent a somewhat scuffed cross that deceived everyone but Helguson, who was on hand to put the match firmly in the hands of Rangers from close range.
- It was as if Buzsaky had never been away and soon after, he played an integral part in what should have been a third for Rangers, his cross resulting in a goal mouth scramble, with the ball eventually finding Routledge - but he could only fire his shot into the side netting.
- The hosts did have a chance to pull one back just before the break when a Louie Soares shot was fired in from 25-yards out, but that was not to bother Cerny who parried away down low to his left.
- Such is the emphasis on fitness early on in pre-season, Rangers boss Magilton was keen to see every player collect 45 minutes under their belts, and true to his word he made several changes at the break.
- The likes of Hogan Ephraim, Rowan Vine and Blackstock were all introduced at half time in a flurry of substitutions, and the R's were soon into their groove after the interval - racking up a third goal in the process.
- In the 56th minute, Mikele Leigertwood found the ball in the centre of the park before sending Agyemang through on goal. Some may have become flustered, but the R's striker didn't, calmly slotting home past Nikki Bull to put the game beyond the hosts.
- And Rangers weren't finished there. If anything, this was becoming somewhat of a rout - not least when Blackstock added a fourth in the 61st minute.
- When Gareth Ainsworth's cross from the right caused confusion in the Aldershot ranks, the ball fell loose to the front man, who made no mistake from six-yards out.
- Aldershot could have pulled a goal back when they were awarded a penalty later on, but Cerny was on hand to deny Danny Hylton, as the R's got off to a winning start in the opening game of their pre-season campaign.
